Here we go again...

The snow is back again. Forecast says there will be 30cm of snow today and tonight. There's still a lot of frozen snow around from the weekend. Temperatures today will dip between -20 and -30 with wind chill which is definitely the coldest I'll have been in. Went to Coast Mountain Sports today and got myself some boots and a nice Firefly winter jacket. Sadly, they are absolutely necessary, it's freezing outside and treacherous underfoot.

The Airbus A380 flew into the airport this morning. We were lucky enough to see it as it taxi'd off the runway, and then rolled down to it's slot. When it landed it didn't look very big. It was only when the thing got closer that I got an appreciation of just how big the thing is. As it dissapeared past the terminal building, you could still see the tailfin above the roofline!

Not much more to add at the moment. It's 12:40 so I might get something to eat in a while, ho-hum...

No snow without fire?

Er, or something. No snow today, but it's FREEZING. -8 degrees outside. With wind chill it's apparently -18. Probably the coldest weather I have ever been in. The bad thing is that while there is no fresh snow, the stuff that is there is not melting.

I added a link below my xbox live gamercard to the 360voice blog I had set up. It's a feature where the blog adds words from your xbox360 to show which achievements you got and which games you've been up to. Mine has been howling about my lack of inactivity. Kind of difficult to play on the thing when it's 5500 miles away.

Still hoping to be back for Christmas. I am due to fly out on December 22nd, arriving back in England at about 16:00 on December 23rd. I don't quite know how I am going to fit in christmas shopping. I might have to try and do it here, and get another suitcase to ship it all back!

More later.....

Snow and things...

No update yesterday. Was a bit busy. The snow came down with a vengeance. It's maybe 6inches deep in some places. Probably the most snow I've ever seen. It's still snowing today, but very little compared to yesterday. The forecast says the snow will tail off, maybe starting up again at the end of the week. We are due temperatures of -10 and -11 tomorrow! Will have to go shopping for some winter clothing this afternoon.

Nothing much to report from the weekend - didn't get time to do much other than work what with the weather conditions. No exciting places to eat either! Just airport food!!

Saying that, we just had Bento from a new takeaway here in the airport called Toshi! It was quite nice.

Yeah, it did.

As I type from my room on the 16th floor of the hotel, I look out of the window and i see snow. Lots of snow. From nowhere it is now really coming down and I can't see the airport from my window any more. Guess I better head into work!

Will it or won't it?

The forecast says snow will hit Vancouver this afternoon and last through til tomorrow. 10cm of snow on the ground is to be expected. Then no more snow for the rest of the week, just occasional sunshine surrounded by rain.

Got up early today to listen to the football and thank god Liverpool won 1-0 with Gerrard scoring the winner. Finished Peter Kay's autobiography as well and it was quite good although most of it you will have heard/seen before if you've seen all the stuff he's done on TV.

We had dinner last night at the trusty Foggy Dew - didn't stay to see the live music though, will probably do that tonight. Rest of today will be a visit to Richmond Centre to buy some tracksuit bottoms (which I forgot to bring!) and then go the gym. Might also get some new trainers as the ones I've got are looking a bit worse for wear.

What a difference a day makes...

The skies are clear, the sun is shining - yet we are expecting snow. No rain today so far, but it's chilly and the general concensus seems to be that the winter snow is coming sooner rather than later. Maybe even this weekend.

Had a great meal at the Shady Island last night, shared a 10oz New York steak, and a whole atlantic lobster. So, for the first time ever, I broke open a lobster to get at the meat inside. Quite an experience, but tasty!

More iTunes today - after hearing them in the music quiz last night, I got hold of Vault - Def Leppard's greatest hits - A CD from my younger days!

Just had lunch from the greek place here in the airport - Lamb wrap and greek salad. Not bad at all, reminded me a little bit of donner kebab but hopefully a bit healthier. Decided to try something different rather than the predicatble Subway.

Gym later on, followed by perhaps a cinema visit to watch either Casino Royale or the Borat Movie. Not sure which. Tomorrow AM is the Liverpool game so I might get up early to listen to it on the internet or take the chance to have a lie in. Of course, if it starts snowing, all those plans go to pot.

I notice there's a furore across the Internet at the moment about guitar tablature sites - no more will you be able to get the tabs for your favorite songs from sites such as olga.net - I actually link to it here as it's been a great source of tab over the years but as I type it is down :(

Games wise - the GBA is getting some good exercise at the moment - giving Advance Wars a go in downtime. It's getting pretty tough though so I think I'll need some different games to play on soon. I'm considering getting a cheap laptop out here so I can have a go at EVE Online, but I'll have to look at the minimum spec and see what sort of price I can get a laptop for that will play it reasonably.

Rain in Vancouver.

It's 11:55am in not so sunny Vancouver, and we are contemplating lunch. I wish I'd bought the xbox with me. No let up in the rain since I arrived. I think it will probably keep raining until spring. Might get a bit of snow soon as well, it's certainly getting cold enough. I'll need to get a warm coat soon I think.

Gears of War was out last week - got a chance to play on it before i left and it's great fun. I managed to get to the second act playing it on hardcore, but got stuck on one of the set pieces. I think I need to play it on live and get a buddy to help me as the computer players don't seem able to help much for this bit.

We're going out for food tonight in Steveston, probably to the Shady Island Seafood Bar. Visited it a few times before and the Steak and Lobster dinner is pretty nice!

The ipod is in overdrive today - listening to The Stone Roses, and Bryan Adams which is an odd mixture I guess. Didn't know it but Bryan Adams is from Vancouver so quite apt to be listening to him.

Welcome to the site.

I've pruned the old blogs and will be restarting again soon so all the details of my wild and wonderful adventures will appear here.

As you can see I've added my xbl gamertag to the site to track how badly I am doing at completing my list of games.
