"Oh when the Reds, go marching in!"

It's 10:30pm and I am at Carl's house, waiting to go to Liverpool Airport to fly to Athens. We're getting pretty nervous! Come on Red Men! Make us Dream!

Hopefully we get the right result tomorrow! Gonna meet up with some of the lads and have a beer in Athens before we head to the stadium. We've got good seats, on the higher tier up behind the goal (near the scoreboard!). Look out for us!

"Monday mornin, time to get up! Two cups of coffee and she runs for the bus..."

Tomorrow I head up to Liverpool ready to catch the flight to Athens. I am getting slightly nervous about the game - I just really hope we win it! This afternoon I watched my Istanbul DVD to try and get my spirits up and get into the mood for the game but at the moment it's just nerves. I guess it will be different when I leave the house tomorrow with passport, scarf, and camera! Then it's a 24hr day and hopefully a great result! Then back home with roughly a week off until I fly back to Canada. Got my flights through today and I am scheduled to go back on May 30th, until June 29th, but I hope to come back a few days sooner than that so I am ready for Chris' stag weekend in Prague.

Not much going on in the last few days apart from listening to music, playing the guitar, and generally wasting time. I met with Jon today and we saw all his wedding photos so i'll probably put a few good ones up of us in our suits.

"I don't need... to sell my soul..."

I am back in the office today to do various admin tasks and log my computer in for the first time in 3 months. I found that I had some 1500 messages to read through. Unbelievable! I had 700 on my unclassified mail but most of those I had seen while I was overseas... Even so, it took me a while to sort through them all.

I've spent the last few days chilling out (surprise surprise) and playing xbox 360 and watching DVDs... This time next week we will be on the way back from Athens no doubt. I'll be heading up north either Monday or Tuesday to meet up with Carl ready for the flight out on Wednesday at 0500. Gonna be a lot of fun!

Very strange to be back in the office I must say. I've discussed and set my work objectives for the next 4 months so I'll get cracking on the tasks once I am back over the water... lots to get on with for now!

"You're a dreamer, a pretty little dreamer...."

The time is nigh, the day is set... Tomorrow Jon gets married to Hayley! We're all set. I have the rings, I have the speeches, we have the suits! It's time to rock and roll! Jon is coming over soon and a couple of us are going to watch Spiderman 3 and then come home for a few quiet beers for tomorrow. I've been out and got the stuff for a monster english breakfast tomorrow - myself, Jon, his brothers, and his dad will all be tucking in to a breakfast and a cheeky glass of port or two to toast the wedding day.

Carl got back to me today with the great news that we both got tickets to the Champions League Final - and he's also booked us flights to Athens... Only for a day trip but it will be an amazing experience I'm sure... let's just hope we get the correct result!

This weekend is going to be busy not only because of the wedding but also Sunday is my sister's 25th birthday, and also the day my Dad gets back from Australia. I haven't seen him or my little brother since Feb so it will be great to see them again.

I notice people are still not leaving comments I guess nobody reads any more :p And there are no entries to my lyrics competitions - every bold line at the start of the blog is the opening line from the song I am listening to as I type. Sad gimmick I guess but it keeps me entertained! So keep the guesses coming in losers!

"We lay the night in anguish, snakes drawn out by the tide..."

No updates for a while - so time for a biggy! Well, it's been a busy week. Last Tuesday, I went to the Liverpool game - I took the pic above from my seat looking towards the Kop end. What a win! I gotta be honest and say I didn't think they were going to do it... It was the worst game ever to watch - so nerve wracking... but the boys came through and held their nerve to win the shoot out 4-1! So we're all going to Athens! Well, not quite. It's proving impossible to get flights out there! We don't know if we're guaranteed tickets yet - seems we've got to go into a ballot to see if we get them, but if we do, then we'll have to find a way to get there! Especially after missing out on Istanbul last time.

After the game I stayed in Liverpool visiting my friends John and Kate who I havent' seen for a while - just a chilled out relaxing week really, nothing exciting to report from it... I came home on Saturday ready for Jon's stag night on Sunday. We met in the Portobello at 7pm, and by 8:45pm Jon was being sick in the toilets of the Herefordshire House - by 9:30pm he was at home! When he said he couldn't drink we didn't think he actually meant it! My mum could drink more! Anyway, the rest of us stayed out and had a good few drinks, so it was an ok night in the end. The wedding is this Friday and I'm going to start writing my speech today. We're picking up the suits tomorrow as well...

I'm enjoying having time to kill - watched Season 2 of "24" and enjoyed it. I'm also wasting time playing on the xbox360 finally - enjoying Oblivion and Rainbow 6 for a couple hours a day! This is the life - could definitely get used to it!

" It's just a shadow of the man you should be,

Like a garden in the forest that the world will never see"

Today is the big game... Liverpool vs Chelsea. Come on Reds! I am packing a bag and driving up to the game with Scott and the other lads. I'll be staying in Liverpool for a few days afterwards for a long overdue visit with all my good friends up there. Carl pointed out last week that it's almost 5 years to the day that we left university. That means that this June I'll have been in full time employment with QinetiQ for 5 years! Yes, 5 years! Wow. I don't know where that time has gone....

So - it's a relaxing vacation (sorry, holiday) so far. I am missing Canada of course, and I am having a few jet lag problems in that I am always sleepy in the late afternoon and always wide awake around 4am... for example last night I woke at 0415 and couldn't get back to sleep - that is dinner time in Canada so my body is obviously expecting to eat!

Haven't been up to much since I got back - literally just sitting around relaxing or going into town and taking in the sights. It's been really nice weather since I came back so I've actually been out in the sun as well... Did some work with Alan on the extension and also out at their building project which was good. I think we're due to go out and do some more this weekend. I've started watching season 2 of "24" (now that I finally finished season 1) and I'm loving it. I ordered season 3 and season 4 while i was away so I've got a lot of DVDs to watch!
